Wiltshire Council activate statutory Severe Weather provision for rough sleepers again!!

Wiltshire Council has a statutory duty to provide severe weather emergency provisions (SWEP) to anyone who is sleeping rough when the weather is predicted to fall to 0 degrees or below for three consecutive nights. With night time temperatures not forcast to venture above zero until They have today triggered those provisions with temperatures forecast to remain at zero or below until Saturday March 10th based on forecasts from Accuweather. As a result, they are offering overnight accommodation for those affected and individuals should attend Wiltshire Councils Housing Options Hubs as soon as possible for help and support.

There are advice hubs at Monkton Park in Chippenham, County Hall in Trowbridge and Bourne Hill in Salisbury and work with partner agencies to support individuals, not just during the worst weather but also by looking at longer term housing solutions as part of this process. During work hours, the advice service can be contacted on Chippenham 01249 706666, Trowbridge 01225 718005 or Salisbury 01722 434233 but after 5.30pm, please contact the Emergency Team on 0845 60 70 888.
